This study aimed to analyze the role of artificial intelligence in developing science journalism strategies and enhancing its capacity to raise political awareness. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical methodology through a review of relevant literature and an analysis of scientific content related to artificial intelligence technologies and their media applications. It also relied on a set of applied experiences in science journalism, including The Guardian’s coverage of climate issues and Al Jazeera Net’s reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic and its connection to health policies.

The findings revealed that science journalism serves as a fundamental tool for transferring knowledge to the public and simplifying science, yet it remains limited in presence and influence in shaping mature scientific-political awareness in the Arab world. The results further indicated that artificial intelligence has effectively contributed to the development of science journalism by increasing efficiency, improving content production, simplifying complex texts, and analyzing big data. Moreover, the integration of AI with science journalism has enabled the media to formulate a discourse capable of linking scientific issues with major political and social transformations, such as climate change and food security.

The study concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to establish specialized science journalism departments within Arab media institutions, provide training programs to equip journalists with the skills to simplify science and relate it to political issues, and integrate AI tools into newsrooms to enhance efficiency and outputs. It also recommended adopting innovative strategies in presenting scientific content to make it more engaging and impactful, as well as strengthening partnerships between media outlets, research centers, and universities to ensure the provision of reliable scientific content that contributes to raising societal awareness.
